Metric Tonne (abbreviations: metric ton, or metric tons, or ton, or tons): is a SI metric unit of mass, also known as tonne. Although, it is used principally as a unit of mass, it has acquired a number of meanings and uses over long years. It is equivalent to 1,000 kilograms (Kg), or one megagram (Mg), or approximately 2,204.6 pounds (lb), or 1.10 short tons (US), or 0.984 long tons (imperial).
Gram (abbreviation: gm): is a SI (metric) system unit of mass. Where, at the temperature of melting ice, it is the absolute weight of a volume equal to the hundredth part of a metre cube of pure water.
How to Convert Metric Tonnes to Grams
Example: How many grams are equivalent to 27.46 metric tonnes?
As;
1 metric tonnes = 1000000 grams
27.46 metric tonnes = Y grams
Assuming Y is the answer, and by criss-cross principle;
Y equals 27.46 times 1000000 over 1
(i.e.) Y = 27.46 * 1000000 / 1 = 27460000 grams
Answer is: 27460000 grams are equivalent to 27.46 metric tonnes.
