Metric Tonne (abbreviations: metric ton, or metric tons, or ton, or tons): is a SI metric unit of mass, also known as tonne. Although, it is used principally as a unit of mass, it has acquired a number of meanings and uses over long years. It is equivalent to 1,000 kilograms (Kg), or one megagram (Mg), or approximately 2,204.6 pounds (lb), or 1.10 short tons (US), or 0.984 long tons (imperial).
Newton (abbreviation: N): is the International System of Units (SI) derived unit of force. It is named after Isaac Newton in recognition of his work on classical mechanics, specifically Newton's second law of motion. One newton is the force needed to accelerate one kilogram of mass at the rate of one metre per second squared in direction of the applied force.
How to Convert Metric Tonnes to Newtons
Example: How many newtons are equivalent to 69.55 metric tonnes?
As;
1 metric tonnes = 9806.65 newtons
69.55 metric tonnes = Y newtons
Assuming Y is the answer, and by criss-cross principle;
Y equals 69.55 times 9806.65 over 1
(i.e.) Y = 69.55 * 9806.65 / 1 = 682052.5075 newtons
Answer is: 682052.5075 newtons are equivalent to 69.55 metric tonnes.
