Slug (abbreviations: ps2pf, or lb.s2/ft): is a unit of mass in the weight-based system of measures, especially within the British Imperial measurement system and in the United States customary measures system. Systems of measure either define mass and derive weights or define a base weight and derive a mass unit. It is the mass that is accelerated by 1 ft/s2 when a force of one pound (lbf) is applied on it.
Metric Tonne (abbreviations: metric ton, or metric tons, or ton, or tons): is a SI metric unit of mass, also known as tonne. Although, it is used principally as a unit of mass, it has acquired a number of meanings and uses over long years. It is equivalent to 1,000 kilograms (Kg), or one megagram (Mg), or approximately 2,204.6 pounds (lb), or 1.10 short tons (US), or 0.984 long tons (imperial).
How to Convert Slugs to Metric Tonnes
Example: How many metric tonnes are equivalent to 88.01 slugs?
As;
1 slugs = 0.01459 metric tonnes
88.01 slugs = Y metric tonnes
Assuming Y is the answer, and by criss-cross principle;
Y equals 88.01 times 0.01459 over 1
(i.e.) Y = 88.01 * 0.01459 / 1 = 1.2840659 metric tonnes
Answer is: 1.2840659 metric tonnes are equivalent to 88.01 slugs.
