Slug (abbreviations: ps2pf, or lb.s2/ft): is a unit of mass in the weight-based system of measures, especially within the British Imperial measurement system and in the United States customary measures system. Systems of measure either define mass and derive weights or define a base weight and derive a mass unit. It is the mass that is accelerated by 1 ft/s2 when a force of one pound (lbf) is applied on it.
Newton (abbreviation: N): is the International System of Units (SI) derived unit of force. It is named after Isaac Newton in recognition of his work on classical mechanics, specifically Newton's second law of motion. One newton is the force needed to accelerate one kilogram of mass at the rate of one metre per second squared in direction of the applied force.
How to Convert Slugs to Newtons
Example: How many newtons are equivalent to 73.53 slugs?
As;
1 slugs = 143.23269975846 newtons
73.53 slugs = Y newtons
Assuming Y is the answer, and by criss-cross principle;
Y equals 73.53 times 143.23269975846 over 1
(i.e.) Y = 73.53 * 143.23269975846 / 1 = 10531.90041324 newtons
Answer is: 10531.90041324 newtons are equivalent to 73.53 slugs.
