**Definitions:**

**Slug** (abbreviations: **ps2pf, or lb.s2/ft**): is a unit of mass in the weight-based system of measures, especially within the British Imperial measurement system and in the United States customary measures system. Systems of measure either define mass and derive weights or define a base weight and derive a mass unit. It is the mass that is accelerated by 1 ft/s2 when a force of one pound (lbf) is applied on it.

**Kilopound** (abbreviation: **kips**): is a unit of force, equivalent to 1000 pounds (lb) which is used in some systems of measurement including English Engineering units and the British Gravitational System. Also, it is a unit of mass used in the imperial, United States customary and other systems of measurement.

## How to Convert Slugs to Kilopounds

*Example: How many kilopounds are equivalent to 32.97 slugs?*

As;

1 slugs = 0.0322 kilopounds

32.97 slugs = Y kilopounds

Assuming Y is the answer, and by criss-cross principle;

Y equals 32.97 times 0.0322 over 1

(i.e.) Y = 32.97 * 0.0322 / 1 = 1.061634 kilopounds

Answer is: 1.061634 kilopounds are equivalent to 32.97 slugs.
