Metric Tonne (abbreviations: metric ton, or metric tons, or ton, or tons): is a SI metric unit of mass, also known as tonne. Although, it is used principally as a unit of mass, it has acquired a number of meanings and uses over long years. It is equivalent to 1,000 kilograms (Kg), or one megagram (Mg), or approximately 2,204.6 pounds (lb), or 1.10 short tons (US), or 0.984 long tons (imperial).
Slug (abbreviations: ps2pf, or lb.s2/ft): is a unit of mass in the weight-based system of measures, especially within the British Imperial measurement system and in the United States customary measures system. Systems of measure either define mass and derive weights or define a base weight and derive a mass unit. It is the mass that is accelerated by 1 ft/s2 when a force of one pound (lbf) is applied on it.
How to Convert Metric Tonnes to Slugs
Example: How many slugs are equivalent to 69.12 metric tonnes?
As;
1 metric tonnes = 68.52 slugs
69.12 metric tonnes = Y slugs
Assuming Y is the answer, and by criss-cross principle;
Y equals 69.12 times 68.52 over 1
(i.e.) Y = 69.12 * 68.52 / 1 = 4736.1024 slugs
Answer is: 4736.1024 slugs are equivalent to 69.12 metric tonnes.
