**Gram** (abbreviation: **gm**): is a SI (metric) system unit of mass. Where, at the temperature of melting ice, it is the absolute weight of a volume equal to the hundredth part of a metre cube of pure water.

**Metric Tonne** (abbreviations: **metric ton, or metric tons, or ton, or tons**): is a SI metric unit of mass, also known as tonne. Although, it is used principally as a unit of mass, it has acquired a number of meanings and uses over long years. It is equivalent to 1,000 kilograms (Kg), or one megagram (Mg), or approximately 2,204.6 pounds (lb), or 1.10 short tons (US), or 0.984 long tons (imperial).

## How to Convert Grams to Metric Tonnes

*Example: How many metric tonnes are equivalent to 64.66 grams?*

As;

1 grams = 1.0E-6 metric tonnes

64.66 grams = Y metric tonnes

Assuming Y is the answer, and by criss-cross principle;

Y equals 64.66 times 1.0E-6 over 1

(i.e.) Y = 64.66 * 1.0E-6 / 1 = 6.466E-5 metric tonnes

Answer is: 6.466E-5 metric tonnes are equivalent to 64.66 grams.
