Atomic Mass Unit (abbreviations: amu, or u): also known as dalton (symbol: Da), is a standard unit of mass that used on an atomic or molecular scale (atomic mass). One unified atomic mass unit is about the mass of one nucleon (either a single proton or neutron) and equivalent to 1 g/mol.
Slug (abbreviations: ps2pf, or lb.s2/ft): is a unit of mass in the weight-based system of measures, especially within the British Imperial measurement system and in the United States customary measures system. Systems of measure either define mass and derive weights or define a base weight and derive a mass unit. It is the mass that is accelerated by 1 ft/s2 when a force of one pound (lbf) is applied on it.
How to Convert Atomic Mass Units to Slugs
Example: How many slugs are equivalent to 4.72 atomic mass units?
As;
1 atomic mass units = 1.137E-28 slugs
4.72 atomic mass units = Y slugs
Assuming Y is the answer, and by criss-cross principle;
Y equals 4.72 times 1.137E-28 over 1
(i.e.) Y = 4.72 * 1.137E-28 / 1 = 5.36664E-28 slugs
Answer is: 5.36664E-28 slugs are equivalent to 4.72 atomic mass units.
