Definition of Weight:

Weight is the force on any object due to gravity. Weight is a vector with both direction and magnitude. It is calculated equal to product of the mass of object with magnitude of the local gravitational acceleration (i.e. W = mg). The unit of measurement of weight is the same of force. As an example, an object with a mass of one kilogram has a weight of about 9.8 newtons on the surface of the Earth, and about one-sixth of that value on the Moon.
