**Definitions:**

**Megapascal** (abbreviations: **Mpa, or MN/m2, or N/mm2**): is the SI derived unit of pressure used to quantify internal pressure, stress, Young's modulus and ultimate tensile strength. It is one meganewton per square meter or one newton per square millimeter. It is named after the French polymath Blaise Pascal.

**Atmosphere** (abbreviation: **atm**): is a unit of standard pressure, equal to 101325 Pa, or 1.01325 bar.

## How to Convert Megapascals to Atmospheres

*Example: How many Atmospheres are equivalent to 98.68 megapascals?*

As;

1 megapascals = 9.8717 Atmospheres

98.68 megapascals = Y Atmospheres

Assuming Y is the answer, and by criss-cross principle;

Y equals 98.68 times 9.8717 over 1

(i.e.) Y = 98.68 * 9.8717 / 1 = 974.139356 Atmospheres

Answer is: 974.139356 Atmospheres are equivalent to 98.68 megapascals.
