**Meter** (abbreviation: **m**): is the base unit of length in the International System of Units (SI). The metre is the length of the path travelled by light in a vacuum within 1/299792458 seconds.

## How to Convert Inches to Meters

*Example: How many meters are equivalent to 31.02 inches?*

As;

1 inches = 0.0254 meters

31.02 inches = Y meters

Assuming Y is the answer, and by criss-cross principle;

Y equals 31.02 times 0.0254 over 1

(i.e.) Y = 31.02 * 0.0254 / 1 = 0.787908 meters

Answer is: 0.787908 meters are equivalent to 31.02 inches.
